Aoibhe Richardson runs with Portland Athletics Club in Oregon
Aoibhe Richardson from Portland Athletics Club in Oregon has won the 2019 VHI Women's Mini Marathon. The Kilkenny woman, who is studying in the US, ran a time of 34 minutes, 35 seconds.
Catherina Mullen from Metro/St. Brigid's was second across the finish line in 35 minutes and 1 second.
Breege Connolly from City of Derry Spartans secured third place in 35 minutes, 14 seconds.
Sinead Kane from Le Cheile won the Visually Impaired Category in a time of 44 minutes, 29 seconds.
She told Newstalk, "Every step I ran out there, I was suffering with the heat and there was a head wind, but I kept telling myself, 'Come on, push through, push through: all the people in NCBI are counting on you'. NCBI has to raise 3 milion euro for their service users and I am one of their service users because I've only 5% vision."
The women's mini marathon has raised more than 217 million euro for charity since 1983.
