Afterwards there will be a ceremony at St Giles Cathedral, and her body will be escorted to London by train.
Charles became King at the moment she died.
He will be formally proclaimed at an Accession Council at St James’ Palace in London.
It is then expected that he will travel to Edinburgh, Belfast and Cardiff to attend services of remembrance and meet civic officials.
Queen Elizabeth II's funeral service will be held at Westminster Abbey, and will be one of the most significant events in British history.
