French kite surfer, Bruno Sroka is this morning celebrating after successfully completing the first of three international challenges when he crossed from France to Ireland.
The 37 year-old, a three time world champion kite surfer, sailed for 17 hours from Brittany to arrive at Roches Point at the mouth of Cork Harbour at 10.40pm last night.
He will be formally welcomed to Ireland with a reception at the world's oldest yacht club, the Royal Cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven, to celebrate his achievement.
The France to Ireland challenge is one of three being undertaken by Mr Sroka who has previously sailed across the English Channel and plans to cross the Mediterranean Sea (2014) and the Atlantic Ocean (2015).
