Daters are being warned about the latest online dating trend - 'kittenfishing’.
A less extreme version of catfishing, the new dating trend involves small but misleading lies, in order to appear more attractive.
Kittenfishers might use tactics such as tweaking their age, their height or using very old or overly flattering photos to bag a potential date.
Other tell-tale signs include inconsistent details, contradictory stories or avoiding certain questions.
While kittenfishing might seem harmless, it can backfire when reality doesn't match expectations.
Signs you are being kittenfished:
- Inconsistent Details – Contradictory stories or avoiding certain questions.
- Lack of Information – Hesitation to share basic details about their life.
- Too Good to Be True – If something feels off, it probably is.
If you’re stressed you could yourself be kittenfishing - ask yourself are you presenting yourself honestly, or are you tweaking the truth?
Honesty is the best policy!
