The Kneecap film has not been nominated for an Oscar.

It had been included in shortlists for two categories - but was not included in the nominations list released today.

Saoirse Ronan also missed out and did not receive a nomination for Best Actress for The Outrun or Blitz.

Having said that, the nomination list was not entirely absent of Irish influence.

Gladiator 2 which stars Paul Mescal was nominated in the Best Costume Design category.

The Apprentice, produced by an Irish company, was nominated for Best Actor with Sebastian Stan and Best Supporting Actor for Jeremy Strong.
