Permanent knife surrender bins and more Gardaí in high-risk locations have been proposed to tackle crime in Dublin city.
It comes as the Government plans new laws to allow gardaí to stop and search people suspected of carrying knives.
This plan put forward by the Social Democrats calls for an immediate €8 million investment in measures to combat rising levels of violence in Dublin city.
It says places like community centres and Garda stations should have permanent knife surrender bins.
The plan also said an increased Garda presence should be introduced in the likes of public transport hubs and nightlife districts according to the Irish Independent.
The party wants the Government to introduce a violence reduction plan in the wake of recent serious knife attacks in the capital - including on South Anne Street and in Stoneybatter.
