Gardaí investigating the disappearance of eight-year-old Kyran Durnin will today search a house and garden in Dundalk.

Investigators took possession of the house on foot of a court order yesterday and will today carry out technical and forensic examinations of the property, its garden and some adjoining land.

A garda spokesperson said the searches are aiming to find “any evidence which might provide us with information as to Kyran's current whereabouts or what has happened to Kyran”.

Kyran was reported missing over seven weeks ago; however, Gardaí have been unable to find Kyran or uncover “any information on his current whereabouts or any evidence that he is currently alive” in the weeks since.

Investigators now believe that he has been missing for far longer than that – and they have been unable to find any trace of him since he was withdrawn from school over two years ago in 2022.

They now believe Kyran is ‘missing, presumed dead’ and have launched a murder inquiry.

In the days since they have been working to piece together a timeline of the events leading up to Kyran’s disappearance.

This morning, they confirmed the search of the house in Dundalk.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone with any information on Kyran’s whereabouts to come forward.
