Gardaí investigating the disappearance of young Drogheda Boy Kyran Durnin are focusing their investigation on where and when he was last seen.
Earlier this week, investigators upgraded the case to a murder inquiry – noting that they have “no information” on the eight-year-old’s whereabouts or “any evidence that he is currently alive”.
The boy was reported missing around six weeks ago; however, Gardaí now believe he was last seen over two years ago.
Investigators are now working to establish an exact timeline of the events leading to his disappearance.
Timeline
Towards the end of August, Kyran was reported missing at Drogheda Garda Station, with officers told he was last seen in the town two days earlier.
As they investigated the disappearance, they became concerned that he had not been seen for far longer.
They now believe that Kyran Durnin was taken out of school in a town outside of Drogheda over two years ago and has not been seen since.
Callout for information
Earlier this week, Gardaí confirmed that they now believe that Kyran is missing, presumed dead.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, will be welcomed by the investigation team.”
“This information will be treated in the strictest confidence,” she said.
No arrests have been made to date and the Garda investigation is ongoing.
