A woman has been arrested in the investigation into the disappearance and murder of Kyran Durnin.
The woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held at a Garda Station in the east of Ireland.
The eight-year-old schoolboy from County Louth was reported missing about 13 weeks ago - but Gardaí believe he was last seen over two years ago.
The last sighting of Kyran was in Dundalk at the end of the school year in 2022.
During the course of the investigation, Gardaí upgraded the case to a murder inquiry – noting that they have “no information” on the eight-year-old’s whereabouts or “any evidence that he is currently alive”.
Searches of the former Durnin home in Dundalk and a wasteland behind the home were stood down in late October, with Gardaí finding “no significant evidence”.
An Garda Síochána continue to appeal to any person with any information on the disappearance and murder of Kyran Durnin, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact them.
