A woman arrested as part of the investigation into the disappearance and murder of Kyran Durnin has been released without charge.
Yesterday, December 10th, a woman was arrested on suspicion of murder and questioned at a Garda station in the east of the country.
This marked the first arrest and first significant step in the case.
The eight-year-old schoolboy from County Louth was reported missing about 13 weeks ago - but Gardaí believe he was last seen over two years ago.
The last sighting of Kyran was in Dundalk at the end of the school year in 2022.
During the course of the investigation, Gardaí upgraded the case to a murder inquiry – noting that they have “no information” on the eight-year-old’s whereabouts or “any evidence that he is currently alive”.
Searches of the former Durnin home in Dundalk and a wasteland behind the home were stood down in late October, with Gardaí finding “no significant evidence”.
Investigations are ongoing.
An Garda Síochána continue to appeal to any person with any information on the disappearance and murder of Kyran Durnin, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact them.
