A Kerry councillor has become the latest Labour politician to resign from the party.

Killarney Town Councillor Sean O'Grady says the Fine Gael-Labour coalition is the most right-wing government he has ever experienced.

Since entering coalition Labour has seen several politicians resign, including former Junior Minister Roisin Shortall and former party Chairman Colm Keaveney.

A former Mayor of Killarney, Sean O'Grady has been a Killarney Town Councillor for nearly 40 years and a member of the Labour party for 12 years.

Mr. O'Grady says when Labour and Fine Gael came to power in 2011, the public had a reasonable expectation that they would usher in a more just and fairer system of government.

However he claims coalition policy has seen those with the least paying the most.

Speaking to Radio Kerry Councillor O'Grady says he had to remain true to his political principles and therefore could not remain within the Labour Party.
