The Labour Party will be pushed to reverse the dole cut for under 25s this weekend.

Up to 1,000 supporters will gather in Kerry for the party's national conference.

While motions call on the Labour Ministers to secure more policies in government, not one calls for the party to quit the coalition.

But deputy leader and social protection minister Joan Burton is likely to come under pressure to reverse the dole cut of under 25s, announced in last month's budget.

And cuts to medical cards will also be debated, with a demand that a card be given to all cancer patients.

Super taxes for income over €600,000 will also be demanded, while Joan Burton is resurrecting the notion of a living wage.

Despite having lost TDs and the party chairman since the last national conference, Labour is buoyed up by last week's opinion poll that put the party back in double figure support.
