A judge has warned a Dublin landlord he will need to bring pyjamas and toothbrush to court next time if he does not comply with an order allowing a receiver to take over 17 of his properties.

Michael O’Brien of Castleknock Road was arrested at his home this morning on suspicion of breaching an order of July 31st.

Mr. O’Brien was described as being in flagrant breach of a court order from last month clearing the way for a receiver to take over 17 of his Dublin premises.

That is because he failed to hand over keys by August 10th and he continued to collect rent at the properties which are in Dublin 7, Dublin 4 and Dublin 1.

The court heard he also tried to fire the receiver appointed by National Irish Bank (NIB) in a threatening letter.

A friend who represented the landlord in court today said his life was falling apart.

Mr. O’Brien has now given an undertaking to comply with the court order by this Friday having been warned by Mr. Justice Gerard Hogan that he will be sent to prison if he does not.
