Tommy Ramone, the last surviving founding member of the legendary punk band The Ramones, has died age 62.
Ramone died at home in Queens, New York. He had been in hospice care following treatment for cancer.
The news was announced on the band’s official Twitter feed.

Ramone was the original drummer of the New York group, playing alongside singer Joey Ramone, guitarist Johnny Ramone and bassist DeeDee Ramone. The musicians al had different surnames - Tommy Ramone was born Tommy Erdeyli – but took the Ramone name.
The Ramones were inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 and are credited with influencing some of the biggest rock groups the recent decades time.
Tommy Ramone played with the group from 1974 to 1978. He also co-produced the albums “Leave Home” (1977) and “Rocket to Russia”(1977), while playing with the band and the live album “It’s Alive” in 1979. After leaving the role of drummer he continued to work with the band as manager and producer for the album “Road to Ruin”.
Joey Ramone died of lymphoma in 2001, Dee Dee Ramone died of a drug voerdose in 2002 and Johnny Ramone died of prostate cancer in 2004.
