Lead investigator in Pistorius case faces attempted murder charges himself

He and two other police officers fired shots while trying to stop a mini-van in an incident in 2011.

Meanwhile, Oscar Pistorius is waiting to hear if he'll be granted bail following the killing of his girlfriend last week.

He has arrived in court for the third day of his bail hearing for the killing of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

The athlete was driven into the Pretoria Magistrates Court in a police vehicle, past a scrum of photographers.

Prosecutors and Pistorius' lawyers are expected to sum up their arguments when the sprinter's bail hearing resumes later.

Police claim he pre-planned the killing of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

But the defence poked huge holes in the evidence against him yesterday, and forced investigators to admit a series of blunders.

Reporter Kalay Maistry spoke to Jonathan Healy on Newstalk Lunchtime about the case.
