Security forces have defused a letter bomb at Stormont Castle in Belfast. The bomb alert caused the evacuation of the building but the Northern Ireland Assembly was not sitting.
A number of letter bombs have been intercepted in Northern Ireland since the weekend. The most recent being a letter bomb posted by dissident republicans which was delivered to the offices of the Public Prosecution Service in Derry yesterday.
A stretch of the Limavady Road in the city was sealed off for a time.
While last week, similar devices were found addressed to the PSNI Chief Constable Matt Baggott and Chief Inspector John Burrows.
The device to the Chief Constable was discovered at a Royal Mail sorting office on the outskirts of north Belfast in the early hours of last Friday morning.
An army bomb disposal unit worked through the night and successfully diffused the device. The package was addressed to Police Headquarters in Knock on the edge of east Belfast.
