Gardaí are searching for a man who escaped from custody last night.

The incident happened at around 7:15pm yesterday evening.

The 25-year-old man was being brought into Limerick Prison.

He had earlier appeared at Tralee District Court on a car theft charge.

Another man also tried to escape at the same time.

The 23-year-old co-accused was apprehended by Gardaí a short time later near the prison.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
