A man has been arrested in connection with the discovery of a firearm in Limerick.

A search took place at a house at Clarina Avenue, Ballinacurra Weston at around eight o'clock last night.

Gardaí from the divisional drug unit, the dog unit and gardaí from Roxboro Road were involved.

The man is currently detained at Henry Street garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
