When informed he was being detained on a European Arrest Warrant he replied ‘I know what it’s about, I just witnessed the crime’.

He is contesting his extradition and will be  granted bail when he lodges his own bond of €15,000.

It is understood 2 men stole the rhino horn from an antiques dealer having arranged to meet him in Newark last year.

The antiques dealer was injured as he gave chase and jumped into the gang’s car.

A single rhino-horn can have a value of up to €200,000.

He is due back in court on October 9th.
