Female assassin, Rose Lynch has admitted membership of the IRA, telling the Special Criminal Court, "I am guilty, but I'm very proud of that."

The 50 year-old from Oakleigh Wood in Limerick is being sentenced for the murder of David Darcy in Ballyfermot two years ago.

The Court has been told Lynch and a male accomplice 'staked out' the victim's home, before opening fire with a revolver and a shotgun.

Lynch told Gardai she carried out the killing because she believed Mr Darcy was responsible for the death of somebody else.

Gardai say the father-of-two was a 'wholly' innocent and unfortunate victim.
