The issue of same-sex marriage has been reignited since the Health Minister Leo Varadkar came out as gay yesterday, saying he didn't want to be accused of having a 'hidden agenda' on political matters.
The referendum on gay marriage is to be held this spring, with polls showing a majority of the population are in favour.
Today, David Quinn from the Iona Institute and Colm O'Gorman, Executive Director of Amnesty International joined Shane Coleman on the Pat Kenny show to debate the issue.
David Quinn stated that that children and marriage, not homosexuals, are at the heart of the debate on the issue.
On the other hand, Colm O'Gorman declared that he and his partner were "not parents of last resort".
