An Army Bomb Disposal Team have rendered safe a live grenade dating back to the War of Independence in Dublin this afternoon.
The Defence Forces deployed the team after the device was found by a private resident conducting excavation work in Grace Park, Drumcondra.
Its been confirmed as a grenade dating back to the 1920's.

Traffic restrictions were put in place around the area and a number of nearby houses evacuated.
The device was rendered safe in situ without the need for a controlled explosion.
Its now been taken to a safe military location for disposal.
