There has been a flood of discussions around immigration in Ireland and Conor McGregor's place in the country's political landscape following his recent visit to the White House.

McGregor, who was last year found by a civil court to have sexually assaulted Nikita Hand, met President Trump for talks on Ireland's "illegal immigration racket".

Social media star Garron Noone has since weighed in on the discussions around McGregor, in a TikTok post where he stated "there absolutely is an immigration issue in Ireland".

Mr Noone said he did not think that McGregor was a good person, but that he was not surprised to see people agreeing with his stance on immigration as the concerns of communities across the country are "continuously not being heard".

His comments were met with support from some and derision from others, and Mr Noone has since deactivated both his Instagram and TikTok account.

Senior business reporter at the Business Post Killian Woods told The Anton Savage Show that these were "loaded comments".

"I think we've gone through stage one of this which is the pile on from people who disagree with him and then we've gone to the next stage which is the reverse pile on the people who piled on in the first place," he said.

"They're saying the majority agree with him but if the majority agrees with you, how can you be cancelled by the minority?

"He's taken himself off Instagram and TikTok - I would be shocked if he's deleted his accounts, he's deactivated his accounts I would guess.

"It is on him, with a following of 1.5 million before he deactivated... He has an obligation to be correct in what he says, not inflammatory."
