Gardaí have discovered a loaded “semi-automatic” sawn-off shotgun in Dublin.

The gun was uncovered after Gardaí launched an operation at Sheephill Park in Blanchardstown yesterday afternoon.

After searching a home in the area, investigators found the loaded weapon in the undergrowth at a wasteland area in the estate.

The weapon has been sent to Garda Headquarters for ballistic testing.

No arrests have been made and the Garda investigation is ongoing.
