If you paid the local property tax as a single lump sum last year (almost one million did), then you should have received a letter from Revenue in October. This letter contained your property ID, pin number and a confirmation note stating the amount due for 2015.

For those who received these letters, 8pm tomorrow (January 7th) is the deadline to let Revenue know how you are paying the tax in 2015.

If you have the ID and pin from the letter you can do this on revenue.ie.

Those who have lost or misplaced either of these can log on to the website with their PPS numbers, and request to have the information sent out again. This will be posted out to you. Once you do this before tomorrow's deadline, you will be considered tax compliant.

If you are paying the tax in instalments or through deductions from your wages, then you don't have to do anything tomorrow, and you should not have received a letter in October.

Speaking to Newstalk Lunchtime, Revenue’s Property Tax Manager, Vivienne Dempsey said that 68,000 people had either paid, or engaged with Revenue in the last 24 hours.

Operating with a staff of 200 people, with a further 45 who can be drafted in at peak times, Revenue took 28,000 calls in the past 24 hours. Ms Dempsey urges those with access to the internet to refer to Revenue.ie - and to be patient if you need to use the hotline.
