When you drive into Cavan town on the outskirts  greeting you was a Quinn Insurance building with a big ‘Q’ sign  but this is gone instead replaced with a Liberty Insurance sign. Quinn a son of a small farmer left school at 14 unable to read or write by 2008 according to the Sunday Times Rich list he was worth more than €3 billion, now he is bankrupt.

Over the years he created massive amount of jobs. The reaction from locals when his name is mentioned is a great debt of gratitude, worry and anger directed at everyone except Quinn. Cavan people say he would of paid back the money he owed. One woman said he gave a sight to the local GAA club and was very generous to all local charities.

The Cavan people say he made a mistake and got raw deal, some describe him as a hero, One guy said he put his 4 kids through college thanks to Sean Quinn, who all work for him but now might have to emigrate to Australia.

In the sleepy old fashioned village of Ballyconnell around 2 hours drive from Dublin, Quinn is loved and respected. Ballyconnell is just a mile from the border with less than a thousand people living there with the Slieve Russell Hotel on the outskirts which was set up by Sean Quinn.

The industry in the area is mainly agricultural, but it also has a large cement factory, a plastics factory and an animal feeds plant.
