A man in his 40s has died following a crash between two lorries in Monaghan this afternoon. 

It happened shortly before 4pm on the R188 between Cootehill and Rockcorry, Co Monaghan. 

One of the lorry drivers, the man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The other lorry driver was uninjured. 

Part of the R188 in between Cootehill and Rockcorry is currently closed and is expected to remain closed overnight. Local diversions are in place. 

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.     

They are particularly interested in talking to anyone who was in the area and may have dashcam footage.
