Gardaí in Drogheda are investigating an incident during which a man (18) was held at gunpoint. The victim had arranged to meet another man to sell his car at about 11:30pm last night.

But he was instead met by two masked men, one of whom had a gun. He was brought to a disused farmhouse where he was held for a number of hours.

He was then taken to his own house where a number of family members were assaulted. The house was then searched and some property - worth less than €1,000 - was taken.

However no family members recieved serious injuries.

The masked men left the house in the owner's car which was later found burnt out.

Investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact Drogheda garda station on 041-9874-200, the Garda Confidential Line at 1-800-666-111 or any garda station.
