A number of people, including Love/Hate actor John Connors attended a sleep-out in Dublin’s city centre last night in honour of Jonathan Corrie, the homeless man who died outside Leinster House over two weeks ago.

Mr Corrie's 14-year-old daughter Natasha McNeill Corrie also slept out as part of the vigil, the took place in the same spot where her father died.

The Homeless 4 Hope vigil was set up by Rosie Naughton who set up a Facebook page in honour of people living on Ireland's streets in the wake of Mr Corrie's death.

Mr Corrie's body was discovered just yards from Leinster House, prompting public outcry over the Government's failure to tackle the housing and homelessness crisis.

Ms Naughton says there is still a lot of bewilderment amongst the homeless community about the Environment Minister Alan Kelly's plan that every homeless person will have a bed come Christmas.

Mark, a 40-year-old recovering drug addict, was at the event last night along with his three-year-old daughter Ruby. He explains how he stays in B&Bs on three nights a week when Ruby is with him but sleeps on the streets on the other nights of the week.

He has nowhere to stay tonight but is hopeful that people will help him...

Mary, from Drimnagh in Dublin, skipped a very important event to attend last night’s vigil. She speaks about the stereotype that prevails for Ireland’s homeless people...

A number of cast members from TV show Love/Hate TV were also in attendance. John Connors, who played ‘Patrick’ in the series, turned up to show his support after he was contacted by the organiser Rosie Naughton.

He hoped their presence would raise awareness about what is happening...

Rosie Naughton was keen to stress that tonight was in honour of Jonathan and his family, particularly daughter Natasha.

She speaks about how the idea came about...

Hope for homeless will be doing a similar event on New Year’s Day – you can findout more on Twitter using #hopeforhomeless or on their Facebook page.
