Turnout has been low so far in today’s referendums.
Polling began at 7am this morning and registered citizens have until 10pm tonight to cast their ballots on whether the constitutional definitions of the family and care should be changed.
By 8pm, turnout in Cork South West was at 33.7%, 37.9% in Cork East and 39.2% in Cork North West.
By contrast, turnout in the three constituencies by 8pm in the 2020 Dáil election was 57.2%.
It means, overall, final turnout figures are likely to be down on recent referendums and elections.
Afternoon figures
By late afternoon, Kildare, Meath, and Dublin City were sitting between 20 and 22% turnout.
Meanwhile, Kerry and Donegal both had averages of 25%.
Counting will begin tomorrow at 9am.
