A deal reached at Labour Relations Commission between employers and unions in the electricians dispute.
The Construction Industry Federation (CIF) has welcomed the agreement. Under the agreement, existing pay arrangements will continue to apply for electricians.
The CIF and the Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union (TEEU) have agreed to recommend these proposals for acceptance to their members.
Speaking following the agreement, CIF Director General Tom Parlon said "We are happy that a resolution has been found, which we hope will avert the impending industrial action".
"We were aware the proposed strike was a cause for concern amongst clients in the industry".
"These proposals will allay any concerns clients had in relation to disruptions on site. We hope to see the proposals ratified in the coming days" he added.
Union members had voted by 94% in favour of a nationwide strike from Monday February 24th. But in a statement today, the TEEU said "The threat of a national electricians strike has receded significantly following talks".
The General-Secretary of the TEEU Eamon Devoy says he will be recommending they accept it.
