Two people have been arrested - after a Luas driver was attacked in Dublin.
The incident took place at around 7 o'clock this evening at the Windy Arbour stop on the Luas Green Line.
The driver received only minor injuries and Gardaí arrested a 21 year old woman and a 19 year old man.
They are now being questioned at Pearse Street Garda Station.
Chairperson of the newly established Luas Green Line Community Forum Shaun Tracey has condemned the attack:
“I strongly condemn this attack on the driver who was going about his job and providing a service to this community.
While attacks like this are extremely rare there are some issues of anti-social behaviour on the Green Line.“The Luas
Green Line Community Forum was recently established in conjunction with the Luas to attempt to tackle issues of anti-social behaviour on and around the Luas line.
Today’s attack is an attack on our community and I condemn it in the strongest possible manner.”
