The trade union has called off rolling work stoppages planned for Monday in Dublin, Shannon and Cork – over a pension row.
Talks aimed at resolving the dispute have resumed at the Labour Relations Commission in Dublin – between management at both the Dublin Airport Authority and Aer Lingus and SIPTU officials.
Dermot O’Loughlin from SIPTU – speaking on his arrival at the LRC – says action will be taken if no resolution is reached:
The head of NAMA says there’s now a shortage of family homes in parts of Ireland.
Speaking at the Construction Industry Federation conference in Dublin, Brendan McDonagh says the property market has stabilised and prices in urban areas are creeping up.
However he says it’s still not profitable to start building new family homes – as second hand housing is cheaper than building from scratch.
Mr McDonagh says the market is beginning to strengthen again:

Public Accounts Committee Chairman John McGuinness wants civil service managers ‘named and shamed’ when money isn’t spent properly.
But Minister Richard Bruton says the Government’s already initiated accountability:
Kidnappings, burglaries and fraud offences are all up – according to new figures from the CSO.
In the twelve-month period to the end of the second quarter, burglaries increased by 10 per cent; fraud was up 8 per cent and kidnappings grew by just under 8 per cent.
All of the other offences measures in the crime stats fell though.
And there were notable decreases in the number of murders, assaults, harassments; weapons offences and public order offences.
style="font-weight: bold;">A Dail committee wants the penalty points imposed for using a mobile phone while driving doubled to four.
The Oireachtas Transport Committee has been reviewing the entire penalty points system – and recommends higher penalties for mobile phone use behind the wheel.
It also suggests that penalty points should not be extended to include non-traffic offences.
