Slane concert-goers are being warned to keep away from the River Boyne when Eminem headlines an open air concert on August 17th.

Over 83,000 people are expected to watch the US rapper perform in what will be the second major gig of the summer at the venue.

100 gardai along with 1,000 security officers and a team of sniffer dogs will police the event.

The Castle says there is to be no queuing before 1pm on the day, when the gates will open. Music is set to start at 1.30pm, with Eminem on stage from 8.30pm.

Two people drowned when REM headlined the event in 1995.

Superintendent Michael Devine says anyone planning to swim across the river this year should bear that in mind.
