A majority of the public favour the Government re-negotiating the Croke Park Agreement according to a new opinion poll.
The RED C survey for the Sunday Business Post asked people their views on the 'Croke Park II' agreement and its rejection by trade unions.
Asked "if the Government should "go ahead and cut public service pay" half of voters says they disagreed with such a move, with 30% supporting it.
Those polled were also asked if the government should "accept the union's decision and try and renegotiate the Croke Park Agreement" which found 56% in favour of that.
Meanwhile, 54% want an easing of austerity by less spending cuts, but 68% believe if the Government had any spare cash it should be used to cut taxes for workers.
This month sees only limited change in party support in the RED C poll.
Fine Gael support is unchanged on 28%, Fianna Fáil goes up one point to 25%, Sinn Féin go up two points to 16%, Labour lose two points to 11% and Independents drop one to 20%.
The poll comes ahead of Micheál Martin's Presidential address at the Fianna Fáil Ard Fheis in Dublin tonight.
