You may remember Jodi Stachowski from the Making a Murderer documentary on Netflix. If you don't, she was the ex-fiancée of Steven Avery who stood by his side while he was imprisoned for allegedly raping and killing Teresa Halbach.

Despite apparently supporting Avery during the documentary, Jodi gave this exclusive interview to HLN where she claimed that she was going to testify against Steven and that her relationship was abusive.

"He told me how to act,” she said. “I didn’t know what to do, I didn’t want to get hurt." 

She goes on to say that behind closed doors, Steven was a monster describing incidents where he was violent towards her, attempting to strangle her.

The Huffington Post obtained records from the Manitowoc County sheriff's department confirm that police responded to domestic incidents involving Avery and Stachowski. They also had records of reports from his former wife, Lori.

Jodi said she is speaking out now because she doesn't think he is innocent. She also said she never loved Steven and was afraid of leaving him.
