A 70-year-old man has died following a road traffic collission in Stradbally, County Laois last night.
The incident occured at approximately 10.45pm on the N80 at Crannagh.
The male pedestrian was pronounced deceased a short time after the collision and was removed to Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise.
A post-mortem examination will take place in the future.
The female driver of the car, aged in her 30s, was not injured.
The road is currently closed pending an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
