ActionAid Ireland says famine is on the doorsteps of people in Gaza, and those affected by the violence are living in "hell".
It's believed at least 300 aid trucks need to enter the enclave every day to address the population's most basic food needs.
Doctors have seen an increase in children dying, as well as cases of women losing their babies very late in their pregnancies as a result of malnutrition.
ActionAid Ireland CEO Karol Balfe says there was absolutely nothing to celebrate on Mother's Day in Gaza, which was yesterday.
“Children are facing starvation and malnutrition at rates that are completely unprecedented,” she told Newstalk.
“27 children have already died from acute malnutrition and dehydration.
“Mothers are struggling to find food on a daily basis, not eating themselves and not having basics like nappies.
“They are having to use scraps or other items which leads to sores and infections.”
It follows an agreement by all 27 EU member states yesterday that a humanitarian pause is needed in Gaza to allow for aid to get in.
Some 30,000 people have been killed in Gaza since October 7th and an additional 70,000 injured, many of which were women and children.
