A man is due in court today for the death of 27-year-old Daena Walsh in Cork last Friday.
The 29-year-old man was arrested on Friday on suspicion of the murder of the mother of two in Midleton.
He opted to take a break from questioning on Friday night and he was due to be released at 6am on Sunday before Gardaí charged him.
He will appear in Mallow District Court around 11.30am.
Ms Walsh was pronounced dead at a residence near Main Street in Midleton on Friday shortly after 4pm.
Emergency services also attended the scene of a fire in another part of the building.
The scene has been preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
An incident room has been established at Midleton Garda Station, and a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation.
A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has also been assigned to support the family.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information in connection with the incident in Middleton to come forward.
They are particularly interested in anyone with camera footage, including dashcam recordings from vehicles in the Connolly Street and Main Street areas of Middleton yesterday evening.
