A man in his 40s has died after he was struck by a truck in Co Cork this afternoon.
The man had been driving a car which left the road and hit a ditch on the N27 Cork to Kinsale road at around 1.15pm.
After leaving his vehicle, he was then hit by an oncoming truck and was killed.
He was the sole occupant of the car.
The driver of the truck was not injured but was treated at the scene for shock.
Garda forensic collision investigators carried out an examination of the scene and the road has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to any motorists who travelled on the road prior to the collision and may have dashcam footage to contact them.
