A man in his 70s has died following a serious assault in Derrybeg, Co Donegal. 

Gardaí said the incident happened on Sunday, December 17th. 

A man in his 70s was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital with serious injuries and was pronounced dead yesterday evening, December 19th. 

A man in his 30s was arrested following the assault.

Yesterday, he was charged and appeared at Letterkenny District Court.
