A man in his 90s has died following a crash involving a car and a van in County Mayo.

The crash occurred on the N5 Castlebar to Turlough Road on December 29th at approximately 4pm.

The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to Mayo University Hospital where he subsequently died.

The driver of the other vehicle, a man in his 30s, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mayo University Hospital for treatment.

Gardaí are now appealing for any witnesses to the collision, including motorists with dash-cam footage, to come forward.
