The man accused of murdering childcare worker Elaine O'Hara in Dublin has failed in his latest attempt to secure bail ahead of his trial.

Graham Dwyer of Kerrymount Close, Foxrock in Dublin has been in custody since his arrest last October.

Mr. Dwyer became restless in the dock as the two-hour bail application drew to a close just before 2pm. His father and brother were in court this afternoon and he was seen making several gestures in their direction throughout the hearing.

Elaine O'Hara had been missing for just over a year when her remains were found by a walker in the Dublin mountains last September.

One month later on October 17th the architect was arrested at the Foxrock home he shared with his wife and two children.

He was charged with her murder the following day after being questioned through the night.

His trial has been pencilled in for April 13th next year and his lawyers argued he should be given bail because of the lengthy delay.

However Mr. Justice Paul Carney refused his application after hearing garda evidence that cannot be released for legal reasons.

This was his second failed attempt after the High Court dismissed his original application in November.
