A man who molested two Limerick girls on the LUAS while they were on their way to a Rihanna concert in Dublin is to be further assessed while in custody, prior to being sentenced.
John Daly (53) of Cabra Park, Phibsboro was arrested by gardaí three months after the sexual assaults, as he was about to board the tram at the O2 following a One Direction concert.
He was due to be sentenced today but it has been put back until late April on the recommendation of a probation report.
John Daly admitted to gardaí that he deliberately got on the LUAS, heading for the Rihanna concert, to touch young girls and get sexually aroused.
His victims from Limerick were aged 13 and 16. One of the girls said she felt she had 'no way out' because she had been squashed against a bar on the packed tram.
CCTV footage from the LUAS led to Mr. Daly's arrest outside a One Direction concert in the O2 three months later in early 2012.
Daly has previously served a six year sentence for sexual offences including attempted rape relating to a young girl and aggravated sexual assault of a woman (62).
He has apologised to the girls for what his barrister called 'this nightmare train journey' and the incident, which 'should never have happened' - he is due to be sentenced today.
