A man has gone on trial accused of raping a woman during a lock-in at a Limerick city bar in November 2012.

Afterwards, she claims he followed her into the ladies where he grabbed her by the throat and warned her not to tell anyone.

The woman was in the Limerick city bar on the night of Friday November 9th 2012. From the stand, she told the jury she stayed back for drinks after closing time.

She claims a man followed her into the ladies and forced himself on her before asking her to go out to his car for sex. She refused and was about to leave when another man got her a drink.

She said she followed this man into a back room in the bar.

She said he locked the door behind her, took his clothes off and raped her.

She told the jury she was balling and begging him to stop.

Afterwards, she said he threw a bunch of keys on the ground and laughed at her when she got down on her hands and knees to pick them up.

She said he treated her like a dirty, filthy dog and said he’d “get her” if she told anyone.

The man, who can’t be identified, denies the charge.
