A 30-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his father in Dublin on Sunday night.
Gareth Sheeran was remanded in custody to appear in court again next week.
Mr Sheeran, of Carriglea View in Firhouse, is accused of murdering 65-year-old Harry Sheeran at the same address.
He was charged just after 11pm last night and appeared before Tallaght District Court this morning.
The court heard that Mr Sheeran made no reply when charged.
Wearing a black t-shirt and dark grey trousers, Mr Sheeran remained silent throughout the hearing.
Judge Patricia McNamara granted him free legal aid and remanded him in custody for a week.
Judge McNamara also agreed to a request from Mr Sheeran's solicitor Andrew Vallely that he receive appropriate medical treatment while in custody.
He will appear before Cloverhill District Court via video-link next Tuesday.
