A 30-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Ian Baitson in Cork.
Dylan Scannell of O'Rahilly Street, Cobh, County Cork, appeared at a special sitting of Midleton District Court this morning.
Detective Garda Gerard O’Shaughnessy said Dylan Scannell made no reply when the charge was put to him.
Defence solicitor Ken Murray applied for free legal aid for his client, which was granted.
Bail applications cannot be made in the District Court in this case and Judge Colm Roberts remanded Mr Scannell in custody.
He will appear before Mallow District Court tomorrow via video link.
33-year-old Ian Baitson died at Cork University Hospital last Tuesday after being attacked in Cobh the previous Friday night.
