A man has appeared before a special court sitting charged with possession of more than €600,000 worth of cannabis herb.

24-year-old Ronan Clohessy of Crossfields, Cree, Co Clare was charged before Limerick District Court with possession, and, possession for sale or supply, of an estimated €680,000 worth of the drug.

Mr Clohessey, who was arrested at a house in Kilkee yesterday, was granted bail on an independent surety of €5,000, which was provided by a family member.

He was ordered to surrender his passport, sign on daily at Kilrush Garda staton and remanded to appear before Ennis District Court on January 14th next.
