A man has been arrested after a flight to Tenerife was diverted to Shannon Airport yesterday afternoon.

The flight from Scotland to the Spanish island was diverted after the pilot requested permission to land due to an incident on-board.

The flight landed at around 5:30pm and a man in his 20s was arrested by Gardaí attached to the airport.

The man is currently being held at a Garda station in County Clare.

The Garda investigation is ongoing.
