A man has been arrested after an alleged stabbing at an under-16’s GAA match in County Tyrone.
The alleged incident took place on Thursday evening in Cookstown during a Championship semi-final between Cookstown Fr Rocks and Fintona Pearses.
It is alleged one man attacked another with a knife and both received stab wounds - all of which unfolded in front of spectators, including young children.
Belfast Telegraph Niamh Campbell said there was a "lot of verbal abuse being given to referee" prior to the alleged incident.
"He [the referee] was being confronted and another opposition supporter intervened and it was then he was then [allegedly] subsequently stabbed in the leg," she said.
"So, two people sustained stab wounds and one was treated at the scene and one was taken to hospital; I don't believe any of the injuries are life-threatening."
Video footage shot by a spectator at the game shows one man being detained and led away by PSNI.
Cookstown GFC says it is now supporting children and young people "who witnessed this disturbing and very serious incident".
Tyrone GAA said its thoughts were with all of those impacted.
